AFTERSCHOOL – Program Site Coordinator 

REPORTS TO: YMCA Youth Development Director

JOB SUMMARY:

The Before/Afterschool Site Coordinator (SC) is dedicated to one school site location and is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the before and afterschool program under the direction of the Youth Development Director.  The SC is committed to quality and provides leadership, supervision; coaching and support to program staff to ensure desired program goals and outcomes are met. The purpose of the afterschool program is to provide services, and activities that help students improve in academics, attendance, behavior, promotion and graduation rates. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Site Coordinator must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission and grant guidelines, and vision for serving the community.  Other important responsibilities include the following:

  1. Administers the day-to-day operation of the After-school program, ensuring compliance with the prescribed fidelity and quality markers as set forth by the grant.
  2. Helps hire, supervises, and coaching afterschool aides, enrichment leaders, and volunteers.
  3. In partnership with the school staff, promotes program and student recruitment to ensure targeted population and optimal enrollment.
  4. Maintains on-going communication and collaboration with Youth Development Director, appropriate Y staff, school’s administration, and community partners to successfully implement the program.
  5. Prepares program schedule and plans for snacks and meals.
  6. Evaluates program quality and fidelity using the IN-QPSA under the guidance of the Youth Development Director, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses.
  7. Ensures timely reporting measurement and evaluation requirements.
  8. Plans and conducts family night to engage parents/caregivers.
  9. Provides ongoing communication with the parents/caregivers.
  10. Attends required trainings and participates in support calls as needed. (webinars)
  11. Develops relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the goals of the Afterschool and ongoing concerns about student needs. 
  12. Upholds and exemplifies the YMCA’s Core Values and principles of Character Development.
  13. Helps to maintain all necessary records and paperwork in accordance to the grant.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Prefer a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience related to youth development or education.  
  2. Must have a minimum of four years of relevant experience working with children in an educational setting or a community-based out of school time.
  3. Must possess oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with multiple audiences.
  4. Must be a positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills. 
  5. Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Afterschool Program. 
  6. Demonstrate a working knowledge of YMCA mission, purpose and goals, childcare policies, and YMCA standards; ensures the program meets the highest standards of excellence.
